Featured Snippets

Featured snippets are highlighted search results that appear near the top of a search engine results page and aim to answer a user’s question quickly. They usually pull a short excerpt from a webpage and may include a title, the page URL, and sometimes an image. Featured snippets can show up in different formats, such as a paragraph definition, a bulleted or numbered list, or a table, depending on what best matches the query.

For accuracy and clarity, the most important thing is that featured snippets reward content that is easy to interpret and factually reliable. To improve your chances of earning one, write a direct answer to a specific question near the top of the relevant section, use clear headings, and structure supporting details in lists or tables when appropriate. Keep definitions precise, avoid vague claims, and ensure your content matches what users are actually asking. If your page is selected, the snippet content may be edited or truncated by the search engine, so make sure the key information stands on its own and stays accurate even when shortened.
