Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs)

SERPs stands for Search Engine Results Pages, meaning the pages a search engine displays after someone enters a search query. A SERP can include traditional organic listings, paid ads, and a variety of special features like featured snippets, local packs, image carousels, “People also ask” boxes, and video results. Because the layout can change depending on the query, device, and location, the SERP is best understood as a dynamic results page rather than a single fixed list of links.

From an SEO perspective, SERPs are important because they show what Google or another search engine believes best satisfies the searcher’s intent. Pay attention to which result types appear for your target queries, since that reveals what kind of content is expected. To support accuracy and clarity, make sure your pages present the key information quickly, use descriptive titles and headings, and keep details like prices, hours, and claims current. When your content is easy to interpret and factually consistent, it is more likely to perform well no matter how the SERP is arranged.
