Is SEO dying? No. SEO is not dying, and anyone who tells you differently is usually trying to sell you a new package of tools or “optimizations” that sound innovative but do not move the needle.
SEO is still the foundation for being found in traditional search engines like Google and Bing, and it is becoming even more important as AI tools shape how people discover information. Right now, tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity rely heavily on web sources and search results because they do not maintain a complete independent index of the internet. That means strong SEO still increases the odds your content is discovered, trusted, and referenced across both classic search and AI responses.
SEO also is not being replaced by GEO. LLM market share is still too small to pull all your eggs out of one basket and place them into another. On top of that, GEO is not something you can do reliably without SEO, because traditional SEO is how LLMs retrieve your information again and again.
SEO is not dying. The real waste is paying people who cannot show results.
